Getting closer...

Many of you have asked for an update!  So--here it is!

We had our home visit for our home study two weeks ago. And yes, my house has not been that clean in quite a while!  The visit went well--we actually enjoyed it!  Our Social Worker was just such a pleasure to work with, and for that we are so thankful.

We had hoped to get all of our paperwork done before the home study visit, but we were short on a few documents. The good news is that we finished those up tonight! It is with great relief that I can say we are done with our home study and moving on to the next part of this process.

The next part, as many of you know, is to compile our registration dossier--a set of papers that have to be certified, notarized, and apostilled. Lots of details have to be attended to as we fill these out and that is a little nerve-racking, but we will keep working!

Many of you have asked about our time-line. Well, that is a great question without a great answer. We committed to this adoption on March 9th, and we are praying to have A home by Christmas. It may be longer, but that is our prayer. Will you join us in this request to our Heavenly Father?

We value your prayers for A. If you like lists like I do, here are a few things we are asking God for:

  • Prayers that God will surround her with His Spirit, that she would not be fearful, and that she would know she is loved.
  • Prayers for her safety if she has been transferred to an institution. We do not know at this time if she is still in the orphanage, or if she has been transferred.
  • Prayers that her caregivers will love her--pick her up, sing to her, read to her, rock her.
  • Prayers for God's provision for the completion of this adoption.

We would like to thank the many of you who have helped us along this road so far. Thank you for helping with the garage sale, thank you for the financial donations to our Reece's Rainbow account, and thank you for your cash donations for our up front costs. We would NOT be this far along without your generosity. We are amazed at how you have answered God's call so unselfishly to assist us in bringing A home. Words are not enough, our hearts are full, and we pray God's richest blessings on your lives.

  1. Hi Donna,

I love your blog! Don't know if Jen told you or not, but I want to be part of this experience by a financial contribution. Jen says you're having a car wash, so I want to match the funds you get from that. Let me know!
